A.A. members both among fellow alcoholics and before the general public.

one in a family, to be a friend among friends, to be a worker among workers, to be a useful member of society.

Among many employers nowadays, we think of one member who has spent much of his life in the world of big business.

Still more wonderful is the feeling
that we do not have to be specially distinguished among our fellows in order to be useful and profoundly happy.

Among our rapidly growing membership of thousands of alcoholics
such transformations,
though frequent, are by no means the rule.

There are the same fast friendships, there is the same helpfulness to one another as you find among our western friends.

When we reached A.A., and for
the first time in our lives stood among people who seemed to understand, the
sense of belonging was tremendously exciting.

Much has been written pro and con, but among physicians, the general opinion seems to be that most chronic
alcoholics are doomed.

Of alcoholics who came to
A.A. and really tried, 50% got

used many times in this book which, upon careful reading, shows that the personality change sufficient to bring about recovery from alcoholism

among us in many different forms.

Try to remember that though God has wrought miracles among us, we should never belittle a good doctor or psychiatrist.

companionship among women who knew her problem, to hear from the lips of their husbands what had
happened to them, to be advised how her own wayward mate might be hospitalized and approached when next he stumbled.
