If you take it, your past will be forgotten and the fact that you went away for treatment will not be mentioned.

We know that while the alcoholic keeps away from drink, as he may do for months or years, he reacts much like other men.

If he can afford it, he may have liquor concealed all over his house to be certain no one gets his entire supply away from him to throw down the wastepipe.

Her husband may become so
wrapped up in A.A. and his new friends that he is inconsiderately away
from home more than when he drank.

And when we turn away from meditation and prayer, we
likewise deprive our minds, our emotions, and our
intuitions of vitally
needed support.

To get completely away from our aversion to the idea of being humble, to gain a vision of humility as the avenue to true freedom of the human spirit, to be willing to work for humility as something to be desired for
itself, takes most of us a long, long time.

Nor does it mean that the members of Alcoholics Anonymous, now restored as citizens of the
world, are going to back away from their individual responsibilities to act
as they see the right upon issues of our time.

that he has padded his expense account or that he
has planned to take your best customers away from you.

If he opened that old affair, he was afraid it would
destroy the reputation
of his partner, disgrace
his family and take away his means of livelihood.

Sometimes the man we are calling upon admits his own fault, so feuds of years' standing melt away in an hour.

If our testimony helps sweep away prejudice, enables you to
think honestly, encourages you to search diligently within yourself, then, if you wish,
you can join us on the Broad Highway.

I ruthlessly faced my sins and became willing to have my new-found Friend take them away, root and branch.

First, we take a look backward and try to discover where we have
been at fault; next we make a vigorous attempt to repair the damage we have done; and third, having thus cleaned away the debris of the past, we consider how, with our newfound knowledge of ourselves, we may develop
the best possible relations with every human being we know.

is only by action that we can cut away the self-will which has always blocked the entry of God -- or, if you like, a Higher Power -- into our lives.

work for something new which does?
